The Problem: this is a picture of a wad of approximately 80# test fishing line that washed up on the beach. Imagine the damage this could do if it was swallowed by marine life or a pelican or wrapped around the neck or the limbs of a sea turtle. There are times that fishing line is going to break – not much that can be done about that. Too often however fishermen just discard tangled line in the water or don’t make an effort to retrieve as much line as possible when they are “hung up.”
The solution: discard all useless fishing line properly. Do not throw it in the water! Even better: we need fishing line that will disintegrate after a period of time.
